Fancy joining an agency with big ambitions?

We’ve been named one of the best small businesses to work for in the UK by Great Places to Work, for the last eight years.
Read on to find out why.

Our culture

Here's what makes firstlight a great place to work.

Guardians of your career

When we asked the team what they love about working here, the most common answers were the friendly, supportive and collaborative culture and not just being a ‘cog in a machine’. We build individual training and development plans for everyone and we promote based on merit – not a schedule.

Great work for great clients

We’re proud to work with established global brands as well as exciting disruptor brands which are transforming industries and lives. We love that we get the opportunity to work across a broad range of sectors on lots of different challenges – no two days are ever the same. We have excellent client retention rates and new business win rates too. But we're also not afraid to turn down work that’s not right for us.

True to our values

We pride ourselves on being honest and transparent with our clients but with our team too. As well as regular “ask the exec” sessions we hold quarterly all-hands meetings to update the team on the company’s progress. We know that when it comes to growing the business, we’re all in it together.

Work hard, play hard

Our social team keeps us busy outside of the office, whether it’s after work drinks, cruising down the Thames or husky sledding in Oslo on our annual Christmas trip.

  • "I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for firstlight"
    Ursula associate director

firstlight is fantastic, regardless of what stage you’re at in your career. From day one as an intern with zero PR experience, I was trusted and empowered to dive straight in, but with the full support and backing of the team. And that hasn’t changed over seven years. It has all the benefits you’d expect of a smaller agency – family feel, close knit relationships – and yet also offers the opportunity to work on exciting, high-profile clients. I feel very lucky for the journey I’ve been on – it’s a cliché, but I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for firstlight.

  • "Support, insight and guidance"
    Conor account manager

Joining firstlight has given me the opportunity to grow and develop as I’ve begun my career in PR, and I have massively benefitted from everyone across all levels of the team offering support, insight and guidance. Settling into firstlight has been seamless as I’ve got stuck into accounts and work, not to mention the monthly socials being a great way to get stuck in off the clock!

DEI

We’re committed to ensuring firstlight is a safe and inclusive place for all. We want to help remove barriers for great talent and boost both equality and equity across the business and wider industry. We know we’ll do our best work when we reflect the world we and our clients operate in.

We’re proud to have a 55% female leadership team. We have hybrid working for all, with many employees working part-time hours to fit work around family commitments, and we support our people at every stage of their lives and their journeys at firstlight.

Our trainee and internship schemes for entry-level talent, Taylor Bennett Foundation partnership and DEI working group are all helping us work towards becoming a more inclusive and diverse employer.

We know there’s more to do, and more progress to be made.

Giving back

We give everyone at firstlight a day of CSR leave to use every year. Our CSR team organises regular volunteering with our charity partner, the Felix Project, who help fight hunger and food waste across London. And we deliver PR masterclasses to students of all ages to educate them about careers in comms.

Training & development

It’s always been our priority to hire and nurture brilliant talent. We invest in a combination of internal and external training to develop everyone’s core skills and foster each individual’s unique interests and strengths.
