Meet Liv – firstlight’s office manager.

Firstlight spotlight: Olivia Corrigan

Tell us about your career to date?

After graduating I got a job writing bids for a renewable energy company in Liverpool. I was loving it but after 6 months I left for a ski season in France. One wasn’t enough, so I emigrated to Canada for two years and worked for the mountain coordinating ski events. I did a season on a superyacht somewhere in there too but I craved routine and career progression and London is the place for that. Firstlight has opened my mind to new industries and expended my skills and interests.

What do you like about working at firstlight?

The team at firstlight is great, we have monthly work socials and informal weekly socials, everyone is genuinely so friendly. I also think it’s important to love where you work, and I love Farringdon – Exmouth market is so fun after work and at Leather Lane market you can get any street food you want!

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

There isn’t really a typical day at firstlight, but recently I’ve been organising our annual Christmas trip, helping the team with IT, posting on the firstlight social channels, and keeping the office stocked up with essentials – most importantly peanut butter, apparently.

Tell us about work that you are particularly proud of?

Well, I can’t talk to PR here because that’s not what I do. Coming into firstlight I wasn’t very strong when it comes to IT, but I’ve learnt on the job and become people’s first point of call when they have a tech issue and have formed a genuine interest. So, I’m proud of my perseverance.

And outside of work, where can we find you?

I spend a lot of time outside of work at a local climbing centre. But mainly you’ll find me cooking or eating out or reading about cooking and eating out. I love staying up to date with Time Out and Eater.

Who/what is your biggest inspiration?

Marina Abramovic is my biggest inspiration. She’s a Serbian performance artist as well as style icon and general life icon. I’ve been following her work for 10 years and I can’t wait to go to her exhibition at the RA next year.

What’s your most played artist currently?

I saw Nick Cave live this summer in Victoria Park, it was such an emotional experience, I’ve been playing his music ever since. The Weeping Song is a favourite.
