You probably know us for our brilliant client work, but who are the brave souls behind it all?

Every month we profile a member of our team so that you can find out more about us!

In the spotlight: Olivia Parkinson

Meet Olivia – firstlight’s newest account manager.

Tell us more about your career to date.
I’ve been in PR for over two and a half years, but I am relatively new to the firstlight family. Before joining firstlight, I worked at a B2B tech PR consultancy based in London. All my clients were in the tech space and since joining firstlight I’ve been able to expand my skills into financial services, advertising, and sustainability, to name but a few.

What do you like about working here?
The people – and I won’t be the first (or the last) to say that. From my first day almost 3 months ago, everyone has made me feel very welcome and I now feel like part of the furniture. The team are committed, dedicated and no one is afraid to get stuck in. Everyone works really hard but also knows how to have fun – our Paris trip was a social event to remember!

What does a typical day look like for you?
No two days are the same, so that’s not an easy one to answer. From speaking to press and creating content to meeting clients and planning campaigns, it really varies. But that’s one of the best things about working in PR!

Tell us about a piece of coverage that you are particularly proud of?

Hands down seeing my client on Ian King Live. The spokesperson’s slot kept getting dropped because the news agenda kept getting taken over by what seemed to be every story other than theirs! Tenacity, collaboration and patience got us there in the end and it is my proudest career moment to date. I think it will be a hard one to beat but I am up for the challenge!

What is the last book you read?

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. It’s also my favourite book (I’ve read it about 3 times now!) The film is out later in the summer, and I can’t wait to see it!

Where is your favourite place in the world?
Anyone who knows me knows I am obsessed with a tiny town in Spain called Moraira. I call it home away from home. I’ve been going there since I was a baby and we’ve made some of the best memories there as a family. It’s the one place I’ll go back to time and time again for a relaxing holiday with a good book and amazing food and wine.
